WHAT IS THE ASSOCIATION OF DESIGN EDUCATION
(ADE)?
For the person looking for an alternative in
design education,
there are specialized courses and training programs designed
for the adult student. Classes and teleclasses, seminars
and teleseminars, workshops, home study programs, and certificate
programs are offered, with diverse offerings in interior
redesign education, interior decorating
education (including the Certified
Decoration Professional® certification program), real
estate staging education (home staging
education), and the Dewey Color System. The
ADE offers post-training
support and continuing
education to its members.
The world of design has expanded beyond conventional interior
design. The specialized fields of interior decorating,
interior redesign and real estate staging (home staging) are in
high demand. More and more people are looking for affordable
solutions to their decorating dilemmas. Interior decorators
are now offering consultations for the do-it-yourselfer and the
person who needs a bit of design direction as well as interior
redesign and home staging (real estate staging) services. Thanks
in part to HGTV and
other countless decorating programs on television; people realize
they can now acquire a beautiful and functional space with a little
professional help.
The Education Affiliates listed
throughout the site deliver quality design
education to their students with the right mix of classroom,
hands-on and business training in their professional courses. Programs
including interior redesign training (sometimes
called one
day decorating), interior decorating training,
and home
staging training (real estate
staging training) also meet state and/or post-secondary
education requirements.
Each instructor has a minimum of 2 years of teaching
in their chosen field. (Most instructors have five or more
years of teaching experience.) These industry leaders have
been seen on television and in print and have authored numerous publications.
Combined, these professionals have more years of experience than
they care to mention making the ADE the
largest association of design professionals and educational programs in
the industry. (Read more here.)
DEFINITIONS OF SPECIALIZED INTERIOR REDESIGN,
INTERIOR DECORATING, AND HOME STAGING SERVICES
Interior Decorating - A good Interior
Decorator works with you to create an attractive and functional space. Just
like an Interior Designer, an Interior Decorator uses design
principles to
select or consult on paint and color, fabric and upholstery, furniture,
window treatments, lighting, art and accessories. Today's Interior
Decorator will help you find the right solution to your decorating
dilemma. For the HGTV enthusiast
or the DIYer,
they will put together a decorating plan that you can implement yourself
when time and budget allows or work with you from start to finish.
Interior Redesign (sometimes
referred to as One
Day Decorating) - This facet
of interior
decorating uses what you have by rearranging furniture,
lighting, artwork and accessories you already own. An Interior
Redesigner's ability to think outside of the box results
in an interior you can relax in and enjoy without having to purchase
a thing. This * green-friendly service will
allow you to see your home (or office) in a new light. All of
the design principles still apply.
Home Staging (also
referred to as Real
Estate Staging) - This facet
of interior redesign uses the combination of just
the right amount of "decorating" coupled
with savvy marketing skills. Home Staging (Real Estate Staging)
is more than just cleaning, de-personalizing and de-cluttering. A
well cared for and attractive house will always get that
sale.
An Interior Decorator, Interior Redesigner or Home
Stager work in both residential and commercial spaces and can also
specialize in other services such as model home decorating, window
dressing, retail merchandising, holiday and special event decorating,
downsizing and more.

Please Note: The Association
of Design Education (ADE) lists programs for personal enrichment,
continuing education and professional education in the areas of interior
redesign training (one day decorating
training), interior decorating
training (including the Certified Decorating
Professional® certificate
program), home staging training (real
estate staging training), and
Dewey Color System training. Professional
programs must
meet standards of education that require a minimum amount
of training hours in order for the program to receive associate
or professional status. Disclaimer
Interior
Redesign is also known as interior styling, one day decorating, interior
arrangement, interior re-arrangement and house fluffing.
* Green-friendly is naturally good for the
environment. Re-using,
re-purposing and re-designing a room only requires a creative
eye. Eco-friendly or "green" design also consists of products
and services that do not harm the environment.
