2009 Northeast Educational Conference

CONFERENCE SUCCESS...
We've said it before and we'll say it again - we have a GREAT GROUP and this year was no exception. The energy and spirit felt throughout the two days of learning, sharing and growing exceeded everyone's expectations.

See highlights of the 2008 Northeast Conference here.
Another fabulous year! Here are the highlights...

Jane Pollak certainly does 'lead remarkable women to uncommon success'! She kicked off our 5th annual conference with tried and true marketing techniques everyone can use during her How to Have a Million Dollar Presence on a Zero Dollar Budget presentation. She closed the day by talking with us about her journey from art teacher, to decorative artist, to professional speaker and everything in between. Jane's humor and approachable style is in a class all its own. Thank you again Jane!
As we gathered together once more, we said hello to old friends and got acquainted with new friends during our two days together. Just for fun, we asked everyone to don 80's fashions during our 'Get to Know You' cocktail party the first night we were all together. These brave souls made it fun for all of us!
Patti Morrow (left) certainly got in the spirit! Visions of the Go Go's, Bananarama and Flashdance were all around us, but Patti's Paula Abdul inspired costume was the hit of the evening!

Patti spoke to us earlier in the day about interior design legislation and how it affects ALL of our businesses. This interior designer turned political watch-dog spends her time making sure we maintain our rights as creative entrepreneurs.

We learned how to dress windows - both for function and aesthetics - from Karen Howland-Walker (KH Window Fashions, Inc.) and Marie Mouradian (Window Designs Etc by Marie Mouradian).

Group work was back again this year. We gained Confidence, Clarity and started creating ways to Differentiate ourselves during this hands-on session. We all walked away with a written plan we can easily implement ourselves.

Then it was off to Interim Furnishings the next day to listen to Feng Shui specialist Christine Conway demystify pre-conceived ideas. She walked us through Black Hat feng shui and how it can be used both personally and professionally.
After a quick stretch, we got down and dirty and flexed our creative muscles during our Designer's Challenge. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we thought you'd like to see a bit of what went on...
Graduates of the Academy of Design and Decorating, the School of interior Redesign, ADE members and others, gathered in Natick and Framingham MA to listen to wonderful speakers, learn a few new tricks of the trade and share life and business lessons with one another. (See photo contest winners here.)
Time to party...                                                 The beautiful showroom at Interim Furnishings
Take your seats...                                               It's time to learn about Feng Shui from Christine
This group needed no prompting...                                        "I want this rug - no this one!"
The votes are in...                                                                    And we have a winner!
